Coach armchair: a modern classic

The Coach armchair, by SaintLuc, is today considered a design icon of modern times. Jean-Marie Massaud, the designer who imagined it, designed with his curved lines a promise of comfort, timelessness and sustainability. Designed to also be functional in its beauty, its structure is covered in the seat and back with an innovative and ecological material, which combines linen and acrylic, created by François Azambourg.

Since taking his first steps into the world of design, Jean-Marie Massaud has dedicated himself to a permanent search for synthesis, subtraction and lightness. When developing the Coach for SaintLuc, he thought of a generous armchair, with soft and enveloping lines. “My satisfaction – says Jean-Marie Massaud – is having created a product that ends up being essential, a new classic. The epitome of comfort as a firm requirement, elegance, green technology as a new goal.”

This design piece, on permanent display at QuartoSala, is proof that, in each project, the designer is committed to providing a symbiosis between the newly created object, man and the environment. Responsibility towards the environment is one of the pillars of Jean-Marie’s work who, since creating Atelier Massaud in 2000, has extended innovation for sustainability to all of his activity, from object design to architectural projects.
